This Privacy Policy explains how 42 Lines Media, doing business as 42Lines Studio, collects, uses, shares, stores, and protects personal information when you use 42Lines Studio and related services.
1. Overview
42Lines Studio provides AI-assisted video transcription, caption editing, translation, formatting, rendering, and export tools. This Privacy Policy applies when you visit https://42lines.studio, create an account, upload media, generate transcripts or captions, purchase a plan, contact us, or otherwise use the Services.

2. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account information, such as email address, authentication details, and account settings.
- Billing information, such as billing address and purchase or subscription records.
- User media and project content, such as videos, audio, images, captions, transcripts, translations, timing data, export settings, and project metadata.
- Support communications, feedback, and messages you send to us.
Information collected automatically
When you use the Services, we may automatically collect technical and usage information such as IP address, browser type, device information, operating system, pages or features used, timestamps, referring URLs, error logs, crash data, and general location derived from IP address. This information helps us operate, secure, debug, and improve the Services.
Sensitive information
We do not intentionally request sensitive personal information. However, videos, audio, captions, transcripts, or other User Content you upload may contain sensitive information. You are responsible for deciding whether you have permission to upload and process that content.
3. How We Use Information
We use personal information and User Content to:
- Create, authenticate, maintain, and secure user accounts.
- Provide transcription, caption generation, editing, translation, preview, rendering, export, storage, and project library features.
- Process payments, subscriptions, credits, invoices, and account plan changes.
- Respond to support requests, feedback, and privacy inquiries.
- Monitor usage, debug errors, improve performance, protect against fraud or abuse, and maintain service security.
- Comply with legal obligations, enforce our Terms, and protect the rights, safety, and property of users, 42 Lines Media, and others.
Where required by applicable law, we rely on legal bases such as contract performance, consent, legitimate interests, legal obligations, and vital interests.
4. AI Processing and User Media
42Lines Studio offers AI-powered and automated features, including transcription, caption generation, caption timing, translation, formatting, and related workflow automation.
To provide these features, we may send uploaded media, audio, text, transcripts, captions, metadata, or generated outputs to AI service providers such as Deepgram and other vendors used to operate the Services. These providers process information to perform services on our behalf.
Generated transcripts, captions, translations, and timing data may be inaccurate or incomplete. You are responsible for reviewing and approving all generated output before publishing or relying on it.
If you do not want your media processed by AI transcription or automation services, do not upload that media for transcription or AI-powered processing.
6. Payments
Paid plans and subscriptions may be processed by Stripe. We may collect billing information and purchase records, but full payment card details are handled by Stripe. Stripe’s privacy policy is available at https://stripe.com/privacy.
8. International Transfers
Our servers and many of our service providers are located in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored in, or processed in the United States or other countries where we or our providers operate.
Where required for users in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent protections when transferring personal information internationally.
9. Retention
We keep personal information and User Content only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to provide the Services, maintain accounts, support project history, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and enforce our Terms.
Account information, project records, and saved assets may be retained while you have an account. Temporary files, render files, and processing artifacts may be deleted after processing or after a limited operational period. Backups may persist for a limited time before deletion is technically possible.
When we no longer have a legitimate need to retain information, we will delete, anonymize, or isolate it from further processing where reasonably possible.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information and User Content. These may include access controls, authentication, infrastructure safeguards, provider security features, and operational monitoring.
No internet transmission or storage system is guaranteed to be 100% secure. You are responsible for using strong passwords, protecting your account, and avoiding uploads that you are not authorized to process.

The Services are not intended for children under 13. Users under the age of majority must use the Services only with appropriate permission and supervision from a parent, guardian, school, or authorized adult.

13. U.S. State Privacy Notice
Residents of certain U.S. states may have specific privacy rights under applicable state privacy laws. The categories of personal information we may collect include identifiers, account information, payment or customer records information, device and usage data, and audio/video/text content provided by users for processing.
We use and disclose these categories for business purposes such as providing accounts, processing video and audio, generating captions, billing, security, support, debugging, analytics, legal compliance, and service improvement.
We have not sold personal information for money. We do not sell uploaded user media. If future tracking technologies are considered “sale” or “sharing” under certain laws, we will provide appropriate choices as required.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by a new “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the updated policy, where permitted by law.
